An example of a mondegreen?
"..annoyed that the place is so freakin crowded and for peace sake,...." or wasn't Pete in the room to begin with?

"And btw. Those are not the best trees to plant downtown. They attract swarms of bees, the Palm frams will blow off with a good storm landing on cars, the streets ect."

I was just reading a response that contained a quoted post of mine and..........should I report myself here?
I had the feeling that something wasn't quite right when I wrote it but looked at it and couldn't figure out what was wrong so hit Post.
Then , when I saw it again, it was so obvious.

Back when eggcorn was a topic in this thread, I learned of mondegreen, but seeing it again needed to refresh my memory relative to eggcorn which is hearing a phrase differently than is said, but the meaning remains the same. The most famous example is hearing 'old-timers disease' for 'Alzheimer's disease.'

Makes since.
Just now encountered where you read the above post... and had you continued reading, very soon was this: "I now admit I can't really emphasize with anyone..."

I am certain he means empathize. Besides, I think he's a faker, but tells a good story.
