Take it to the next level (hopefully, the elevator doesn't get stuck between floors!)

There's a new one I've noticed in the business world that I find annoying and illogical.

It's "we're just going to discuss/review this at a high level", meaning just basic facts, not details.

The cliche "like a deer in the headlights" has, for some reason, become so overused it's almost nauseating. While it does describe that stunned reaction/appearance perfectly, can't someone think of another cliche, please?

I always thought it was kind of cliche to use the word cliche. But as one poster already put it - it's hard to come up with a new phrase that people will understand. While these things listed are indeed overused, they are used so often because they convey the idea or concept. Though some originality couldn't hurt

As far as tiresome cliches go: "Proud American" "Easy as 1-2-3" "four easy payments of...." "enjoy______ in minutes" "team Edward" "say no to drugs" "grow up" "Get a life" and finally "Jesus died on the cross for your sins" (no offence to the religious folks out there - it's just a little worn out, that's all).

" at this point in time"........gag!

What's wrong with the simple and succinct "now"?

Need some emphasis? Try "right now".

"Drink responsibly," which is also an excellent candidate for Oxymoron of the Year.
