We are moving to Indian Land, SC in a few weeks from Charlotte, NC. We have 2 cats and they are due for their yearly shots so we'll be doing that soon, but do cats have to be licensed in SC? Also, is it true that there is a state tax on pets? I have searched the internet and haven't been able to find a site with any of this information.
One more question. You'll all think I'm crazy but.... We have noticed a large raptor, a hawk of some sort we think, flying around our new house. It has a nest in a nearby tree. It's a new development and there are still a lot of wooded areas that will remain untouched, so we don't think the hawk is going to leave the area any time soon. Does anyone know if they are likely to pick up an 8 pound cat?
My wife almost lost her parakeet a number of years ago. They use to set its cage out on the patio, so it could get some sunshine and fresh air. Which was all well and good, until a hawk tried to carry off the cage. Of course a parakeet is a lot smaller than a cat.
No there isn't a tax on pets, no laws regarding cats either. The only thing is there is a leash law for dogs, but no one obeys. It's really sad that there are so many dogs running everywhere.
