Looking to get away from the "big" bank. Which Credit Union would you recommend in the area Founders or Family Trust?

Do you know the area you must live in to be a member of Founders? I am in Fort Mill now, but I recall last year when I lived in Charlotte they wouldn't let me join. I had to work for a designated company or something like that.

We have lived here for 11yrs and use Founders and have nothing but positive things to say about them. I am not sure about where you have to live or if you have to work for a designated company. My Husband's employer is a designated Company, that is how we became members. I think if you have a family member who has an acct. there, you may be eligible because my 78y.o mother in law opened several accounts with no problem. I guess you would just have to call them. The customer service is outstanding. I can just call the local office if I need something taken care of right away if I can not get there in person and they are more than happy to do it for me over the phone. In my opinion, I think they have some of the lowest interest rates around. I can not say enough nice things about this credit union. It has also been very convenient with having a branch open on 521 in Indian Land.

Like all Credit Unions they have specific membership requirements. I believe if you live work or go to church anywhere in Fort Mill you can become a member. You can give them a call or stop in a branch. I think it is based on where you work or your ZIP code.
