Description: Every New Year’s Day or thereabouts, one of the major college bowl games is played outside Phoenix at Glendale’s University of Phoenix Stadium. The Fiesta Bowl is usually played between 2 top college teams selected by the Fiesta Bowl Committee. This bowl is now part of the College Football Bowl Alliance, so once every 4 years it will be the site of the national championship playoff, the first of which was right here in the early days of 1999.
