Description: Founded in 1981, the Boulder Ballet is Boulder County’s only classical ballet company. Boulder Ballet is a company of local professionals and amateurs and visiting professionals. The ballet collaborates annually with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra to present two full-length productions—The Nutcracker ballet, a winter tradition so popular the performances sell out every year, and spring performances such as Springtime in Paris and The Emperor’s (Really) New Clothes.As a member of the Peak Association of the Arts, the Boulder Ballet also provides ballet instruction through the PeakArts educational wing, the Boulder Arts Academy. In addition, the Ballet tours Boulder County schools presenting “Steps in Time,” an interactive educational program for young people.Performances are held in a variety of places, including Longmont’s Vance Brand Auditorium and Macky Auditorium in Boulder.
