Description: Now the third-largest dance festival in the nation, the Boulder-based Colorado Dance Festival (CDF) is partially funded by the National Endowment for the Arts. CDF has earned international recognition with its innovative programs and renowned performers, including such top names as Trisha Brown and the late, great tap dancer Honi Coles. The CDF also founded the Boulder-based International Tap Association (303-443-7989).In 2001, the festival’s 19th season, more than 400 dancers from around the globe gathered for intensive training with a faculty of 40 from five continents. The program has something for beginners to experienced professionals.In addition to performances and classes, CDF continues with its energetic Youth Dance Project, which gives young dancers ages 12 to 18 a chance to study with renowned professional dancers; the lecture-demonstration Informances; and the Family Series of matinee performances that give the audience a chance to take a turn onstage.
