Coors Field - Tours & Attractions - Boulder, Colorado

City: Boulder, CO
Category: Tours & Attractions

Description: Home to the Colorado Rockies, this 50,000-seat stadium is extraordinarily detailed, down to 40 plate-size blue columbines on the exterior. (The columbine is Colorado’s state flower.) A ball game with kids is delightful here. They’ll love the hot dogs, pizza, sodas, and snacks. You can find Rocky Mountain Oysters for sale, too. (Those are fried bull testicles, in case you’re munching one right now and wondering what you just ate.) Rockies Larry Walker, Todd Walker, and Jeff Cirillo often hit home runs, and the mascot, Dinger the Purple Dinosaur, is always performing antics somewhere. Obviously, baseball is not just for kids. It’s a great place for a date on a summer evening, watching the sun set behind the stadium. You might even catch a fly ball and have a fun story to tell your co-workers at the watercooler. The Rockies still have the “Rockpile,” where you can come on game day and buy tickets. Tickets in advance are generally $4 to $75; call (303) ROCKIES. From I-25, take the Park Avenue West exit to reach the stadium. (See the Sports chapter for more information on the Rockies.)
