Description: Born from a ballet school in Denver, the Colorado Ballet was established in 1961, making it one of Colorado’s oldest arts institutions. The company now includes 30 professional dancers from around the world and 25 apprentice dancers. In 1997, Colorado Ballet II was created to provide upper-level students at the company’s Colorado Academy of Ballet an opportunity to gain performance experience.The Colorado Ballet performs such classics as La Sylphide and The Nutcracker each Christmas season, but also offers more innovative works such as those of George Balanchine. The 2008 season included The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The performance season is from September through March. Series tickets are available.

Description: Children from all over the Denver metro area audition to get into one of the five chorales. The CCC presents popular and traditional music such as Carmina Burana and special compositions written for the chorale by resident composers. There are annual U.S. and international tours by the group. A December Christmas concert features traditional holiday music, and there’s a special spring concert in May. The chorale has recorded two CDs that are available for sale.
