Description: The popular S&P Oyster is busy all the time in season, so make a reservation, or go for a drink upstairs at the Captain’s Room, with its own bar and a view over the houses of Captain’s Row along the Mystic River. In fact, always try to get seating here in the cooler months, but in the warmer ones, sit out in the gardens of zinnias and begonias by the drawbridge for the ultimate Mystic experience. There is plenty of seating in general compared to other Mystic restaurants. If you’re here for lunch, the oyster grinder is something you’re not likely to find elsewhere, although that’s too bad! Their fish-and-chips comes with jicama, carrot, and roasted poblano pepper slaw, a twist on the traditional. S&P somehow combines classy with a shore restaurant vibe, and it works. They serve local barrel wine from Jonathan Edwards Vineyard by the glass. You can also catch the Mystic Express for a harbor tour right outside S&P on the dock.
