And she’s appeared on the Today show displaying some of her South Florida regional specialties. She opened Michelle Bernstein at the Omphoy, one of Florida’s finest restaurants in one of its finest new hotels, in 2009.One of her best starters is her shrimp tiradito, with aji amarillo (a spicy South American chile), soy, and cilantro. Her tuna carpaccio is bathed in a foie gras torchon “snow” (marinated in Armagnac) with apples is superb. The lobster bisque is filled with leeks, wild mushrooms, and sherry. And the cuttlefish a la plancha is enveloped in scamp-style risotto and garlic. As for entrees, the seared wild king salmon comes in a saffron broth, surrounded by beans, rice, and baby vegetables. The Malaysian curried snapper brings you a touch of spice from the Orient, with mango, heart of palm cole slaw, and rice. And the dashi scented black cod is enhanced by the mushroom dashi broth, bok choy, and radish salad. The wine list is enormous, from countries all over the world, and states all over America. The restaurant denotes which wines go best with which dinners.
