Description: The names alone are rich with flavor and colorful enough to conjure up enough plot, character, and scenic setting to write their own novels. SmuttyNose Old Brown Dog Ale. SeaDog Blueberry Wheat. Hook and Ladder Golden Ale. HobGoblin Ale. Hofbrau Dunkel. Just reading the list is heady stuff. But most people are going to come here to actually taste what’s behind the labels—selections from around the world. So check out their “Events” calendar because they’ve got tastings listed and brewers coming to talk about their particular process—in between quaffs, of course. Sit inside, or there’s a patio out back. Dunedin House of Beer opens Monday through Thursday at 4 p.m., Friday through Sunday at 2 p.m.

Description: Located in Centro Ybor, Tampa Bay Brewing Company not only brews its own beers and ales, it then cooks with them. Starting with Hummus Dip made with their True Blonde Ale, moving on to Iron Rat Stout Shepherd’s Pie, and finishing up with Home Made Jack the Quaffer Bread Pudding, made with porter-soaked cherries. They even use the ale in their pizza dough. Tampa Bay Brewing Company is open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 11 a.m. to midnight on Friday and Saturday, and from noon to 11 p.m. on Sunday. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Description: With more than 500 beers of every type from every part of the world filling coolers and on tap, World of Beer befits its name. Shh—a few wines are listed, too, as are cigars. Watch for cookouts held now and again. World of Beer has both indoor and outdoor seating. Sports fans have TVs to watch and occasionally live music fills the airwaves. World of Beer opens Monday through Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday at noon.

Description: “Southern cooking and deep-fried dancing” is how Stumps Supper Club puts it. Southern food, it is, with items like Fried Chicken and Waffles, Pulled Pork BBQ, and Gertie’s Fruit Cobbler for dessert. Rock Star Friday means live-band karaoke night with singers backed by the Jimmy James Explosion—yes, you may end up on YouTube!—and Saturday nights feature Jimmy James and the Velvet Explosion house band playing everything from James Brown to ABBA. OK—not strictly country, but the atmosphere counts. Stumps Supper Club is open Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 10 p.m., Friday from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m., Saturday from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Stumps is closed Monday and Tuesday, plus Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.

Description: Just the fact that the Blue Martini is located at International Plaza’s Bay Street tells you this is not just another bar. Mondays salute hospitality industry workers, Azul Tuesdays feature Latin dance lessons and music, and each of the other days has its own theme, live music, and special offers, too. Three-dozen or so specialty martinis are on the drink list along with wines and champagnes. A dinner menu includes flatbreads, steak, salads, a lobster taco, and desserts, but the focus is definitely on the title drink served in elegant surroundings. The Blue Martini is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m., Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 a.m., and Sunday from noon to 3 a.m.

Description: Aside from its upscale glitz and reputation for rockin’ music—it is, after all, part of the Hard Rock family—Floyd’s other distinction is that the party goes on until 6 a.m. How does that work? The Seminole Tribe has sovereign nation status and can pretty much write its own laws. Floyd’s serves dinner Wednesday through Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. and the nightclub is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Description: Glamour and glitz on Tuesday nights? The Hyde Park Café has become known for its Tuesday night see-and-be-seen parties, as well as for its lineup of DJs, five bars, and three distinct atmospheres. Go for Velociti’s disco-ball dance-floor glitter, Wally & Bernie’s somewhat quieter tone, or the Café Courtyard’s open-air glamour. The Hyde Park Café is open Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 10 p.m. to 3 a.m. in addition to a full bar, they serve pizza, sandwiches, and small plates. Girls ages eighteen and up and guys ages twenty-one and up are welcome all nights. Thursdays only for guys ages eighteen to twenty.

Description: Once the McNulty Station firehouse, today the Push Ultra Lounge shares the two-story brick building with the Red Mesa Cantina. Thursday night, for instance, is Latino/International Night with salsa lessons offered from 9 to 10 p.m. Push Ultra Lounge is open Thursday through Sunday from 8 p.m. until the wee hours.

Description: Shephard’s offers three kinds of nightlife experiences. Put on the ritz with a full light-and-sound extravaganza at The Wave, dance to a mix of music from the ‘70s to today in the Sunset Lounge, or look for reggae and rock in the Tiki Bar. Thursday from 8 to 11 p.m. is Comedy Night at The Wave. Sunday the Tiki Bar boasts the biggest beach party around—not strictly at night, but where else should we list it? The Tiki Bar opens every day at 11 a.m., The Sunset Lounge opens every day at noon, and The Wave is open Friday through Sunday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

Description: Dine aboard the StarLite Majesty dining yacht, sailing out of Clearwater and St. Petersburg, for a truly waterfront meal featuring a choice of entrees and full cash bar. A live band plays dance music after dinner—or lunch, for that matter. The StarLite Majesty sails Tuesday through Sunday at 7 p.m., but that’s cast-off-the-lines times. You’ll want to arrive at least thirty minutes prior so you can check in, be seated, place your order, and get settled. The dining area is elegant, so dress accordingly.

Description: Sailing out of both Tampa and Clearwater, the Yacht StarShip offers (seasonal) Sunday brunch cruises, as well as year-round lunch and dinner cruises. Cruise the harbor area of Hillsborough Bay or the Intracoastal Waterway of northern Pinellas County while being served a three-course meal with a choice of several entrées. Afterwards, there’s dancing on the lounge deck or the stars up above on the promenade deck. Cash bar. There is a dress code, even for lunch. Check the website for details or ask when you call. This is a yacht, after all.

GameWorks is loaded with all kinds of simulator games in which you steer motorbikes or snowmobiles through an on-screen course and interactive ones in which you try to make your feet match the flashing lights on the floor as the music heats up—plus basketball and skee-ball and a whole lot more. A full-service bar in the center and the Hopscotch Lounge to one side allow for quieter conversation or a game of pool or darts. Jax Grill serves pizza, salads, burgers, and more. Look for specials on the website. Located at 8th Ave. and 17th St. in Ybor City, GameWorks opens at 11 a.m. each day. Adults only (18 and above) after 10 p.m. There is a dress code (check the website), so spruce up before you come in.
