Description: The plate containing your Mis en Place meal arrives at your table, and now you’re in a quandary. Do you pick up your fork and disturb the creative composition of color and texture? Or do you frame the plate, preserving the visual artistry, and walk away, knowing you’ve sacrificed your hunger for a higher cause? Head Chef Marty Blitz would have you do both. Frame the plate in your mind’s eye and acknowledge the culinary painting before you. Then savor the equally artistic arrangement of the tastes and textures of a luncheon chipotle grilled shrimp; black bean, jicama, and corn salad; and avocado with a lime-mojo vinaigrette, for instance. From the dinner menu select something more exotic such as the Sous Vide Venison Loin or Lemon Thyme Seared Tofu. Or, as the menu suggests, get blitzed—with their Get Blitzed Tasting Menu, that is. A lovely selection of cheeses, wines, and desserts rounds out the meal. Mis en Place, a Golden Spoon Hall of Fame establishment, is open for lunch Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and reopens for dinner at 5:30 p.m., closing at 10 p.m. On Saturday, the restaurant is open from 5:30 to 11 p.m. The bar opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
