66. City Segway Tours—Chicago
City: Chicago, IL
Category: Tours & Attractions
Description: This world-class and worldwide operation was one of the first to offer tours via Segway. Good idea, we think. After all, in 2 or 3 hours, you roll a route through town that would take much longer to walk. On the shorter tour, the focus is on the rad ride, while the 3-hour tour adds in more stops and more history of the cultural institutions, parks, and skyscrapers you glide by. Open to participants 12 years and older, the tours all include a 30-minute orientation and cost $60 for 2 hours and $70 for 3 hours. Tours run year-round, Nov 1 through Mar 30 daily at 11 a.m.; Apr 1 through Oct 31 at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m.

72. Untouchable Tours
City: Chicago, IL
Category: Tours & Attractions
Telephone: (773) 881-1195
Insider Pick:
Description: Your guide’s name will be “Shoulders” or “Southside,” or maybe “Al Dente,” and he expects you to listen up to his stories of ”da good ol’ gangster days” of Chicago. Well, maybe they weren’t so good, but they do provide some pretty entertaining history. Ride along with “dees guys” on their 2-hour bus tour, and you’ll pass a church with bullet holes in it, former speakeasies and red-light districts, old gang hangs, and the theater where FBI’s most wanted John Dillinger was shot. It’s all light-hearted fun, but it’s also fascinating and informative. Tours are $30 per person. They run daily, with more tours during the summer months.
