Description: Set in a Victorian mansion and named for Joe Lybrandt Forepaugh, the dry-goods merchant who built the house in 1870, Forepaugh’s is an elegant oasis in St. Paul’s historic Irvine Park neighborhood. Soft light in nine cozy dining rooms offers the warmth of a turn-of-the-20th-century parlor, lace curtains and all. Forepaugh’s main courses include duck, lamb, veal, steak, and seafood. Forepaugh’s offers a shuttle ride to and from the Ordway Center in downtown St. Paul, very helpful if your evening includes a concert or show or if you plan to attend a Wild game at the Xcel Energy Center next to the Ordway. Ask about the shuttle when you make your reservations, which are recommended. The restaurant is open for lunch weekdays, for dinner Monday through Saturday, and for brunch and dinner on Sunday.
