Description: Near the heart of Ocracoke Village, tucked in a shady grove of trees, Teeter’s Campground offers 2 full-hookup sites, 12 sites with electricity and water, and 10 tent sites. Hot showers are available. Six charcoal grills are installed at tent sites, and each site has a picnic table. There aren’t any public laundry facilities on Ocracoke, so don’t plan to machine wash any of your clothes. Call for rates. Teeter’s Campground is open Mar 1 through Nov. Reservations are recommended on holiday weekends. Credit cards are not accepted.

Description: Less than a mile from Silver Lake and the nearest beach access, Beachcomber Campground has 29 sites with electricity and water and 7 tent sites.Hot showers and fully equipped bathrooms are available, as are picnic tables and grills. A deli on the premises offers fresh sandwiches. Gourmet groceries and a large wine selection are available, as well as beach supplies, souvenirs, and T-shirts.Leashed pets are allowed at Beachcomber. The campground is open year-round. Reservations are recommended for summer camping. Call for rates.

Description: A Portsmouth Island ATV Excursion allows you to ride the shoreline of one of the most beautiful and remote beaches in the world on an island famous for its shorebirds, sea turtles, and seashells. Excursions begin with a 20-minute boat ride from Silver Lake Harbor in Ocracoke Village. Once on the island, you will discover the historic deserted village of Portsmouth, a settlement that in 1860 was a thriving port town with more than 685 residents. Now owned by the National Park Service, Portsmouth Island is home to the only ghost town on the East Coast. As part of the tour, you will be guided through the village’s US Lifesaving Station, the Methodist church, the post office and general store, and the village visitor center.

Description: Four boats offer full-day offshore charters out of this marina. Full-day trips cost around $900 to $1,200. These boats use Ocracoke Inlet when heading to the Gulf Stream.
