Description: Something of a darling of the Duke City dining scene and a familiar name on the “best of” lists, Chef Jennifer James excels with a short and frequently changing menu of locally sourced dishes offering her original takes on contemporary cuisine. The streamlined restaurant in glowing pumpkin hues is smallish and has an open kitchen, giving a personal, almost “at home” feel as Chef James works. A community table night on Tuesday and Wednesday features a one-sitting family-style meal of three courses or more, including wine on the table, at a very reasonable set price. There are no options on the family meal, and the menu is finalized close to the day as it’s driven by current market produce; seating is limited, so book in advance. The à la carte menu is available on those nights, too. Wine and beer are available. Reservations are strongly recommended, and Jennifer James 101 is open for dinner only, from Tuesday to Saturday.
