Description: In this vintage lunch spot you can browse the pharmacy’s range of European bath products, fragrances, hair accessories, jewelry, and a super selection of cards, before chowing down on a bowl of the highly recommended green chile stew with pork, plus fresh soups, quiches, and sandwiches from grilled ham with melted Brie and roasted peppers on a baguette to hot brisket on a French roll and a classic deli Reuben. Everything is made on the premises; even the turkey is baked in-house, and desserts include scrumptious fruit cobblers. Model Pharmacy has a full soda fountain with floats, malts, shakes, and old-fashioned phosphate sodas. The fountain’s classic pastel-tiled counter with its row of pink stools adds an extra dose of charm. There’s no alcohol, no reservations, and only Visa and MasterCard are accepted. Although the store is open for regular shop hours, food service stops at 4 p.m., and from 3 p.m. on, the menu is limited to cold sandwiches. Closed Sunday.
