Description: Although it’s a small school by university standards (see the Education and Child Care chapter for details), Sierra Nevada College offers an interesting variety of classes in the arts, including art history, ceramics, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, electronic arts, sculpture, music, and theater. It offers bachelor’s degrees in art and music. For lifelong, non-degree learners it also has a continuing-education program that includes creative arts courses. SNC’s summer Visiting Arts Workshops present an amazing potpourri of artists that span the spectrum of disciplines, such as high-fire porcelains, wheel-thrown ceramics, raku firing, conceptual sculpture, digital imaging, musical pet therapy, and modern poetry. You can also enjoy performances and exhibits by SNC students and visiting artists in the Croom Theater and the Tahoe Gallery at the Mountain Campus. Call for schedules and details.
