Description: The signature restaurant of the Ace Hotel, Clyde Common is a stylish space that attracts the beautiful people of Portland to its handsome zinc-topped bar and high-ceilinged dining room—a dining room that features communal tables, where you may find yourself sitting next to the beautiful people. Fortunately, the friendly staff makes sure there is also room for you. The scene, however, could be unbearable if the food weren’t first-class. Clyde Common is very good with traditional simple dishes such as a salad of radishes, butter, and salt or even roasted vegetables; they are also excellent at spotting synergistic combinations such as foie gras, shallots, and brioche that are more than the sum of their parts. They have an impressive scotch and bourbon list and make wonderful cocktails, overall. The bar on weekend nights is very festive, so if you need a quiet dinner, you might make another choice.
