Description: This Links was built in 1999, but it’s more than just a golf course. The first homes of the Links Community Development were built in 2004, and the Links at Gettysburg course is part of the community. Its clubhouse can accommodate 260 people for weddings, receptions, and other special occasions. George T. Keeney, the chef of the place, even has a food column in the local newspaper. If you’re interested in joining the community, memberships and homesites are available, but you don’t have to be a member to enjoy the golf here. Among the many amenities offered are a clubhouse with a pro shop, locker rooms with showers, a driving range and putting green, a restaurant, and a lounge and snack bar. Golf lessons are offered, and proper golf attire is required; specifically, jeans are not allowed. Golfers must also wear shoes without metal spikes. Civil War cannons serve as tee markers at the Links, which specializes in golf outings, corporate retreats, and fund-raising tournaments. The 18-hole, 6,184-yard, par 72 layout features red-rock cliffs that come into play on 6 holes, dense forests, and 10 lakes. Precise play is necessitated by every hole’s being lined with one or two lakes and thick forest. The course has rated four stars in Golf Digest, and it’s been rated the No. 6 public course in Pennsylvania by Golfweek. The Links is also a member course of the exclusive National Golf Club. Its driving range and practice facility were redesigned in 2004, and tee times are required and may be made seven days in advance. This is the most expensive course in the area, with a weekend rate of $86.38 that drops to $45.04 after 2:00 p.m. To reach the Links, take Taneytown Road (Route 134) south about 4.5 miles, almost to the Maryland border. Turn right onto Mason-Dixon Road, and the course is a mile farther on the right.
