Description: This coed gym is 1.5 miles west of Lincoln Square, and members range from 13 through 95 years old. When you join the club, you receive two free personal training sessions, where you’ll be shown how to use the club’s wide variety of equipment, including Star Trac and Life Fitness treadmills, Precor elliptical machines, Star Trac exercise bikes and steppers, and Schwinn Airdynes and Concept2 rowing machines. For strength training there’s a full set of Paramount and Cybex machines and a large free-weight area. Exercise classes are held in the aerobics room, which has a state-of-the-art floating floor. Traditional fitness classes include step, cycling, dancing, senior fitness, low-impact, weight lifting, and kickboxing. Mind-body-spirit classes such as yoga and Pilates are also offered. Certified personal trainers are available, as are certified massage therapists, and the club also has tanning beds. Gettysburg Health & Fitness has a staffed KinderCare room that’s open Monday through Friday mornings. Children age seven and younger are permitted, but only one child younger than one year old will be taken at any one time. Advance reservations are required, and you should let the staff know 24 hours in advance that you want their services. Club memberships may be for lengths of 1, 3, 6, or 12 months, and visitors to Gettysburg may purchase day passes.
