Description: With a history that dates from 1785 when James Gettys laid out the town of Gettysburg, Lot #81 (as it was originally deeded) has operated as a private residence, as varied retail stores, and as office space over the decades. In 2001 the building was sold to three sisters, Melinda, Jane, and Hannah, who spent 14 months renovating the space, which had been vacant for many years. Their logo is “Antiques, Apples and Art”—antiques on two floors, specialty foods such as homemade jams and unusual candy and good old-fashioned apples (in season) for sale, and a stunning amount of art in many different forms. The building houses many tenants. Besides the antiques, art, and seasonal food items, you’ll also discover the Civil War Center sutlery (see the GNMP chapter for more information), jewelry selections from Scott & Co. Jewelers (see the write-up later in this chapter), and Mr. Ed’s candy offerings (see the Attractions chapter for more on Mr. Ed’s Elephant Museum).
