Description: After 90 years on display in a Main Line mansion, the Barnes packed up its Picassos (as well as its Manets, Monets, and Van Goghs) and now makes its home on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway at 20th Street to take its place alongside Center City’s other cultural treasures. Description: This is the largest public collection of the works by late-19th-­century sculptor Auguste Rodin outside of Paris. Yes, a bronze cast of Rodin’s iconic The Thinker is outside, marking the spot (it has recently been restored after being buffeted by the elements) where this 1929 structure stands. Description: Built in 1719, this medieval Germanic-­style home is the oldest surviving residence in Lancaster County and the oldest Mennonite meetinghouse left in the Western Hemisphere. Guided tours of the period-­furnished building are available Mon through Sat, Apr 1 through Nov 30. During September’s Heritage Day and Snitz Fest at the Hans Herr House, costumed interpreters and artisans will reenact daily life for Pennsylvania Germans of the 18th and 19th centuries. Demonstrated activities include open-­fire cooking, baking, corn husk doll-­making, weaving, and sausage-­making. By the way, snitz is dried apples, a staple for sweet and savory dishes for farm families.
