Description: The Cherokee Trading Post is a fun and funky little shop that carries just about any Native American crafts you can imagine, including pottery, jewelry, blankets, leather goods, animal skins, and even arrowheads. They have a large selection of leather moccasins (as you might infer from the huge white letters proclaiming “Deerskin Moccasins” on the roof as you drive by) and leather gloves, as well as plenty of T-shirts, and even a case filled with unusual knives.

Description: This outlet store in a pretty stacked stone building with a white second-floor balcony has a huge selection of discounted musical instruments (including guitars, banjos, fiddles, dulcimers, keyboards, and electric pianos). Description: Although you can find quite a few health-food stores in Sevier County, this Sevierville store has been around longer than most, since 1985, and has an experienced, knowledgeable staff. Naturally (pun fully intended), they carry several lines of vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements. In the back room, they also have a selection of ground herbs that you can buy loose for use in preparing foods or drinks. You’ll also find sections devoted to homeopathy, aromatherapy, and healthy pet food products. Everything natural also has a good selection of healthy snacks and hiking foods, as well as natural cosmetic items like shampoos and soaps, and relevant books and magazines.

Description: This huge store in the Governor’s Crossing shopping center has the largest inventory of scrapbooking merchandise in the country, including an extensive Disney section. Their sister business, the Scrapbook Clearance Center (865-908-7747), is just a few doors down and sells discontinued and closeout items for unbeatable prices.

Description: Governor’s Crossing is a planned development encompassing accommodations (like the Resort at Governor’s Crossing), a number of restaurants, attractions (such as Rainforest Adventures), and entertainment theaters (like the Smoky Mountain Palace, home to the Cirque De Chine show) that are all covered in their own chapters. In addition, the complex includes about 20 shops, such as Vanity Fair Outlet, Shoe Carnival, BonWorth, Country Clutter, Books-a-Million, and the Scrapbook Superstore (described earlier in this chapter). Description: The entrance to this outlet mall (commonly called Five Oaks) is on the Parkway about a half-mile south of Governor’s Crossing. With more than a hundred shops, Five Oaks is the largest outlet mall in the area—big enough to have its own free trolley shuttling passengers around the acreage during high season, from April through Thanksgiving. Description: The Robert Tino Gallery is located in a family-owned farmhouse clearly visible and accessible from Winfield Dunn Parkway (Tennessee Highway 66), about a mile north of Dolly Parton Parkway. Robert Tino, one of the younger artists in the area, has built an admirable reputation within the local artists’ community. His sensitivity to the natural beauty of the world around him is translated to canvas in whatever medium Tino chooses. A Sevier County native, Tino has benefited from the tutelage of several artists in the area, and has returned the favor by assisting several promising young artists in starting their own careers. Tino’s work, and that of his protégés, is displayed in a century-old farmhouse that’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
