Description: Westin La Cantera boasts 2 golf courses, including the Palmer Course, designed by golf legend Arnold Palmer. With its own clubhouse and restaurant facilities at 17865 Babcock Rd. (210-558-2365; 800-4-GOLFUS), it plays out over 225 acres of ruggedly beautiful terrain. The Resort Course at La Cantera, the original course at the resort, was designed by Jay Morrish and Tom Weiskopf. It utilizes the walls of a former limestone quarry as well as acres of live oak trees to challenge golfers. The 18-hole, par 72 course was the site of the Valero Texas Open for 14 years. (The Open is now held at TPC San Antonio.) Among the unusual features here is the tee shot from an 80-foot quarry wall looking right out at Fiesta Texas’s Rattler roller coaster. The club includes a driving range, practice green, restaurant, and golf academy.
