Description: A tour of this house, originally called the Brockenbrough house, a Neoclassical standout, can be included with admission to the adjacent Museum of the Confederacy with a combination ticket. Built in 1818 and attributed to Robert Mills, this house became the home of Jefferson Davis’s family from August 1861 to March 1865 while he served as president of the Confederate States of America, and it is furnished as it was during that time period. Davis often used it as his headquarters and office, so many meetings and state visits took place here. President Lincoln toured the house after the fall of Richmond. Admission varies depending on whether visitors tour the house and the Museum of the Confederacy. The best deal is to buy the Civil War pass for $15; then you get admission to the house, museum, and the American Civil War Center at Tredegar. The house is closed in Jan.
