Description: Deriving its name from the auto repair shop that was once housed in the 1928 building, Garage is very much a throwback to the ’70s, with its multipurpose bowling alley, billiards rooms, and bar space. Although it’s popular with local college students and hipsters, it also draws very serious pool players and often features tournaments. The bowling alley portion is one of a kind, three stories high and the first to open within Seattle city limits. The recreation provides plenty of fun for your night out, but there are also plentiful lounging rooms with minimalist 1950s decor, full of Eames and Saarnin furniture. You can also catch reminders of the auto garage legacy in the chrome accents and high-gloss automotive paint. The restaurant serves a menu that is largely Italian and Mediterranean, with items such as hummus and antipasto. The crowd tends to be on the younger side, and Garage is frequented by aspiring musicians—not surprising when you learn that Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready is one of the partners.
