Description: Inka Heritage opened in 2007 and immediately drew attention with its high-quality food and some recipes not familiar to the average Madisonian. Appetizers are delicious but offer a few unusual items such as fire-roasted beef heart marinated in a pepper paste, herbs, and spices and served with Creole sauce. Potatoes, of which there are over 4,000 varieties in Peru, play a large role in the menu. The signature dish is the Lomito Inka Heritage, tenderloin served with rice and beans, golden fried yucca, and topped with a fried egg. Seafood entrees total about a dozen and include unique preparations of shrimp, trout, sea bass, and much more. Ceviche, the classic lime-marinated fish dish of Peru, is on the menu as well. Fri nights host live music. Just a five-minute drive from downtown, Inka Heritage is open daily for lunch and dinner. Not wheelchair accessible.
