1. Angell Park Speedway

City: Sun Prairie, WI
Category: Spectator Sports
Telephone: (608) 837-5252
Address: 300 Park St.

Description: Named for Colonel William Angell, a Sun Prairie resident and Civil War veteran, Angell Park has been host to a variety of community events and recreational activities. Since 1946, the park has been home to a third-mile clay oval racetrack and host to midget auto racing. Don’t let the size fool you: even NASCAR legends such as Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart have raced here, and it was once considered a place to earn a reputation by racers vying for a spot in Indianapolis. Located in downtown Sun Prairie, Angell Park Speedway runs races every Sun evening from the middle of May through Labor Day weekend. This is also the home of the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame, and the speedway features the cars and racers from the Badger Midget Auto Racing Association. Take US 151 northwest from Madison until the County Road N exit. Turn left (north) and the speedway is on the right. Tickets cost from $12 to $20 with discounts for students. Kids 12 and under enter for free.
