My wife found herself stranded at the Budget counter tonight when they claimed they didn't have record of a rental that a third party had booked for her. When she tried to pay with her credit card (which had over $700 remaining on its credit limit) for a ~$200 rental, they claimed they couldn't take the card because they needed to do a *$500 CASH ADVANCE* in addition to the rental fee. NO legitimate company should ever force you to do a cash advance on a credit card, and rental car companies have NO reason to require extra cash deposit with a credit card like they would on a debit card, since most credit cards - including this one - have automatic renter's insurance covering rentals made on the card.
Absolutely a scam. Disgusting.
