Bucks Bait 'n Stuff aims to be wheelchair accessible, family-friendly, and the country lover's convenience store.
Located on the west side of Lake Ouachita, 4 miles north of Mount Ida, for many years it was the only bait shop in the area - opening shortly after Lake Oauchita was set up. Customers who are grandparents today remember coming in to "this bait shop" when they were little kids. Buck's wife bought the place in the mid-90's. They both loved to fish and she wanted something to keep him busy. Building a "live bait room" onto the back of the building, the shop was expanded, adding 7 tanks inside for year round availability. Their daughter, Robin, a semi-retired (i.e., "retreaded") university professor, took over the shop, changing its name to Bucks Bait 'n Stuff, expanding products and services.
The shop is located at the "front" of 20-plus acres that backs up to the Ouachita National Forest.

For 2011
Renovations (nearly complete) for the upcoming 2011 season include: WiFi (completed), reel re-winding (completed), rewiring the near 50-year old shop to current standards to meet computer and satellite needs (completed), and adding produce/farmer's market stand (in process)
Additional projects in the planning or development stage also include creating a recreational area to host archery or shooting events, chuckwagon style outings, and trail riding for ACTHA.us events; and a "gymbrary" - a small gym with library and computer training/tutoring system. The library will cover health and fitness, how-to books, and educational material.
We try to keep costs reasonable by keeping expenses down, not carrying any tobacco products, and not taking any credit cards (or plastic).
Your cell phones will work and catch a signal from our driveway - we just ask that you park to one side (not in front of the house or shop), and do not block either end of the pass-through driveway while you talk on the phone.
Swing on by when you come visit the lake!
