In 1982, a group of Davis, California community members established a single focus -- to provide a new approach to teaching children and their families about science. Since that time, Explorit has grown into a reputable and experienced organization (a Nature Center and a Science Center), four vehicles, and multiple science programs being provided in over 15 Northern California counties. Explorit's unique teaching style allows for increased interest and lasting curiosity through hands-on science education and inquiry-based activities that complement formal education. Our interdisciplinary focus on STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) activities provides for interactive exploration and youth development that support our mission to "To ignite and foster curiosity about science and nature through inquiry and discovery." Major activities for Explorit include science education programs for the general public, schools and community groups, on-site exhibitions with changing themes and a Community Science Project.
Our public hours are Wednesdays 1-5:00p.m., Fridays 3-6;00p.m., Saturdays/Sundays 1-5:00p.m.
