KSHCZ was first started as a Research Center in 1995. And later became a zoo in 1998. In 2002 started a rescue program and refined the term Rescue Center. I be the first zoo to open there doors to the general public and accepting unwanted, homeless, or abandoned animals from the commercialized pet trade. To help in the aide of pet-trade animals being released into our community or our native wild life. In 2010 KSHCZ started to accept a limited amount of birds and small animals.
