I was not happy with the way City View treated my son. He started there in the beginning of first grade and he seemed to really like school. But by the middle of Second grade he was in a very bad downward spiral. The principal showed disdain for me and lied to me twice about my child. He told my son's doctor I did not "follow through" with my son and then denied it to my face when confronted. My son got sent to the office for even the smallest infraction and I would get called to leave work for the smallest infraction. My son would eat his lunch before lunch, and instead of talking to me about it, the principal just started taking his lunches and wouldn't let him even eat the snack until lunchtime. I had told the principal to just let him do it and I packed bigger lunches so my son would have lunch by lunchtime. But he continued taking the lunches, and when my son got really hungry and took some snacks out of the school cupboard, he got in trouble and the principal told me it was a sign of a serious disorder. My son told me that he felt (in his words) "retarded" because of the way the principal treated him. He had to go and have afternoon snack in the principal's office. When I told the principal it made my son feel bad and I wanted it to stop and he said "well, I could just call you any time your son does something wrong". I feel the program is good, but the principal and some of the teachers are no good. I feel like my son was treated unfairly. Yes, he had some issues, but it is odd how as soon as we changed his school he is doing fine and his new teacher does not see any of the problems that resulted in my son's IEP in second grade. Which City View didn't even finish like they were supposed to. Even to get anything done to really help my son at all I had to write to the district. I am very disappointed with the school and I would not recommend it to anyone unless there is a different principal.
