This airport was originally built and operated by Redfern Evans, Jr. The airport was sold to the County in the mid-1960's as a result of Redfern being ill and no longer able to manage the daily operations. Redfern Evans, Jr. died in July 1969. The county road/highway leading into the airport is still named Evans Road.

Megyn Evans Conrad
Daughter of the late Redfern Evans, Jr.
