The Mall of Northgate, San Rafael, California

The Mall of Northgate in San Rafael California is becoming a top destination for shoppers. The mall is undergoing renovations in 2009, but remains open for visitors. The mall is located in Marin County. The buildings are made to look adobe, with a definite Spanish design and wrought iron work. The roof is not your typical flat structure, but created with different slopes and eaves. The mall is open Monday through Thursday from 10am to 8pm. On Friday and Saturday they are open 10am to 9pm. Sunday hours are 11am to 6pm. The restaurant and store hours can vary though. It is located on Los Ranchitos Rd and Las Callinas Ave.

Some of the larger shops located in the mall include Sears, Rite Aid, Kohl's, and Macy's. There is also the Century Theaters for movie goers. The Northgate Mall has only one floor at the moment for most shops. The larger department stores do have two levels. The main level services more than 30 different shops and locations for entertaining visitors.

Current locations at the Northgate Mall include Applebee's, Claire's, GameStop, Gap stores, Gloria Jean's Coffees, and Marin Link. A Sunglass Gallery, US Bank, and Visionary Opticians are also open. There are a number of places which are coming soon, and still more locations which are under construction and waiting to be leased.

Coming soon are Wetzel's Pretzels, Vans, Subway, See's Candies, Sbarro, Roadside BBQ, PacSun, Northgate Beauty Shop and Salon, a food court, Dazzle Wireless, and Combo King. Cellular Arts is already open. The Oak Plaza which is under construction will be for entertainment purposes.

Throughout the year Northgate Mall in San Rafael provides a number of events to entertain shoppers. Some of the events include Chalk Painting Art Workshop, Mayflower Chorus, Love2Dance performance, story time, farmers market, Mystery Readers, Italian Street Painting Festival, and the Marin Arts Festival. These events are located on or near the mall. Not all will involve the mall, but for shoppers in the area they are handy to visit.

The renovations of Northgate Mall have been implemented to draw in consumers to the many shops. The idea is to create a "loft'' style with a promenade for outdoor walking. The glass doors, open air dining, and courtyards are to make the mall look different and more appealing. The renovations are to be completed in the fall of 2009. For now many of the stores and areas are under construction. There will be about ten open for visitors to entertain themselves at.

Guest services are available for anyone needing a gift card, mall directory, or any other type of information. Guest services are open during the center hours. It is currently located near Gloria Jean's Coffee and Macy's. This is a temporary location to be changed once the renovations are complete. The offices which run the mall have also been under construction. They have moved to new locations during the renovations of the Mall of Northgate San Rafael California.
