Village Green Heritage Center


The Village Green Heritage Center contains historical tributes to both desert pioneers and more recent inhabitants. Located in the heart of Palm Springs, California, the center exhibits a fountain fabricated in Mexico depicts water as the symbol of life. Walkways paved with over 4,000 bricks are engraved tributes to commemorate the 5Oth anniversary of the incorporation of Palm Springs in April 1988.

There are several museums located in the center which include the following:

The McCALLUM ADOBE which was built in 1885 from native soil and was the home of the John Guthrie McCallum family. The museum contains the collection of the Palm Springs Historical Society, including personal memorabilia of Pearl McCallum McManus. The museum is open Wednesday & Sunday from noon 3 pm, Thursday through Saturday from 10 am 4 pm and is closed at the end of May to mid-October.

MISS CORNELIA WHITE'S HOUSE was built in 1894 from railroad ties. Displays include Miss Cornelia's bibles, paintings by Carl Eytel, the first telephone in Palm Springs. The museum is maintained by the Historical Society and is open Wednesday and Sunday from noon 3 pm, Thursday through Saturday from 10 am 4 pm and closed from the end of May to mid-October.

AGUA CALIENTE CULTURAL MUSEUM is full of Cahuilla Indian historical/cultural artifacts, photographs, diorama, botanic garden, Native American jewelry, music and gifts.
