Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

So Many Years Later, Elvis Is Always Being Remembered

Posted 01-09-2019 at 05:59 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

He'll always be the King of Rock and Roll. His birthdate --- Did you notice that? --- was yesterday. Elvis Presley would have been 84 had he lived. Would he have performed during these last several years?

We'll never know the answer.

In the Music forums, one of my biggest joys is posting music sung by Elvis and the stuff he did. Periodically, you'll spot one of them in some of my more common outposts. Elvis. Singer. Actor....

Look At What I Just Spotted On 'The Hill' --- Juicy!

Wow, gang! Take a look at the following link. Great stuff from an unexpected source about the mindset of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (or something of that nature). This bit did not get touched by much of our mainstream media.

It's really good stuff, too. Look into the following link.

Bevo Really Lets Loose On Big Game Day

Posted 01-03-2019 at 08:02 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Sure, it happened two days ago (at this writing). So what? That video catch of a very big pre-game event was just too good to pass up.

In case you haven't seen it, here's ESPN's take on a tale of two college football mascots. Let me set the stage: You've got the Texas Longhorns and the Georgia Bulldogs in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. And you've got the usually-stoic Bevo the Longhorn and his opponent du jour, Uga the bulldog, and this is a supposed interaction...

Can You Believe How Many Intrastate Interstates Texas Potentially Could Have?

Posted 01-01-2019 at 09:59 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Basically, the worst-kept secret in the United States is that Texas is a very, very big state. That, we already gather. But have you taken a good look at our interstate highway system to see how many such highways are long and don't ever leave the state?

Not counting the loops (410, 635, 820, and 610), Texas has the following interstate highways that never leave this state: 45, 14, 2, 369, 37, and 27. Those would be labeled as intrastate interstates...

Looking Forward To An Exciting (And Hull-acious) 2019

Posted 12-31-2018 at 08:44 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

We don't know what's going to come next, but if the good Lord wills, then it will come. Baby New Year will be generously unwrapped in a few short hours, and many people will make some resolutions that likely won't be kept.

As for me, well, I'm just looking forward to that stove top in the morning, where your favorite blogger will make some black-eyed peas and a few corn muffins hot from the oven. Pork jowls. Ham chunks. Butter. Yum. I could taste...
