Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Galvestunned? Mini-Adventure With Crime Scene, Crickets, And Crazy Weather

Posted 09-10-2018 at 07:22 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

What was supposed to transpire was just another overnight road trip. I'll admit, I don't do those very much due to a tight budget, but my last trip to Houston convinced me that I needed to spend a little bit more time in Galveston.

So, off I went on Sunday morning.

Now, before the trip, I had to vigilantly watch the National Weather Service radar patterns for Houston, as I needed to make a decision whether to actually go or not. The hotel was already...

The Texas Hill Country: Where The Boundary Should End

Posted 09-03-2018 at 12:26 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Disbelief rocked this writer the first time he (or I ) looked at an online map from the Texas Hill Country visitor website. I mean, the expression was aghast. There are portions of the state of Texas that I feel need to belong in the Texas Hill Country, mainly in the north, and, for some reason, they're not.

Before I go any further, here's that link for your perusal: https://hill-country-visitor.com/hill-country-map/

Oh, the southern, eastern,...

Lineup Shakeup At 60s on 6 Next Week

Posted 08-29-2018 at 07:05 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Whoa! Didn't see this one coming. My radio habits are about to be uprooted once again (But then again, heck, don't they always?). Sirius XM is about to see a minor shakeup on one of its products, and it's also one of its most popular ones.

You see, 60s on 6 is undergoing a little bit of change..... with its lineup. It's the first big shuffle they've had in quite a few years. Found that out this morning on the radio, and then looked online later on. ...

Scattershooting / Getting Picky About Guitar Music?

Posted 08-27-2018 at 12:20 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Remember the phrase from television's "Hee Haw", "I'm a-pickin', and I'm a-grinnin' "? Well, we're going to attempt to do both right here, as, once again, it's time for Scattershooting. I just pick whatever's on my mind, and when it's all over, you'll just be grinning.

And away we go....

********

Speaking of pickin', I heard something yesterday on WRR-FM (101.1) out of Dallas. The classical station was...
