Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

Lineup Shakeup At 60s on 6 Next Week

Whoa! Didn't see this one coming. My radio habits are about to be uprooted once again (But then again, heck, don't they always?). Sirius XM is about to see a minor shakeup on one of its products, and it's also one of its most popular ones.

You see, 60s on 6 is undergoing a little bit of change..... with its lineup. It's the first big shuffle they've had in quite a few years. Found that out this morning on the radio, and then looked online later on.

There's going to be a new guy on the evening-to-night shift, and he's coming from Los Angeles. You'll be hearing Shotgun Tom in the night, beginning next week, and he'll be on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Yep, friends, he's the newest addition to the 60s on 6 family. Meanwhile, Phlash Phelps will get his workload cut, as his show will go to just five hours, followed by Dave Hoeffel for four hours, and then Pat St. John for another four (except on Wednesday, when he'll do only two). What won't change will be Bruce Morrow on Wednesdays and Saturdays live (with Sundays prerecorded), and Ken Merson with the Satellite Survey shows. My only gripe is that 60s on 6 still won't have a deejay on the air after 8 p.m., Pacific time. It doesn't need to be a six-hour effort. They just need one more voice from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., Eastern time (8 to 11 p.m., Pacific). Shotgun Tom probably could have filled that void by having him start later, give Phelps one of his hours back, and add possibly one each to Dave and Pat.

Should be an interesting Labor Day weekend for Sirius XM listeners.

Ken Merson is leaving 60s on 6. He's taken a job at a Baltimore classic hits station. Taking over the 60s Satellite Survey will be Dave Hoeffel. Not sure if this will affect Hoeffel's current weekday schedule.
