Welcome To Case's Column

Let me say a big welcome to all of you for joining me here. I'm going to call these blog meetings Case's Column. I wanted to use "Corner", but that was already taken. Since 2008, it's been a real privilege to come on here and share some of my life with you, and it's a big world where we live.

In these blogs, I'll just speak whatever is on my mind, but we will be playing within the rules here. I may pick a particular topic, point out an event, or shoot the breeze. I'm a little bit of an essayist at times, so I'll just speak what's on my mind, and I might tell a story or two. Or, I might spew out an opinion or three. There will be some serious moments, some tender, some poignant, but there will also be those moments that you'll just bust out laughing. But, hopefully, everything will be in good fun here. And, of course, there's a place below for your comments and thoughts as we go along here. So feel free to join me for the ride -- I sure as heck hope I'm doing this right and not making any mistakes.

Thanks for taking your time in reading Case's Column. Hopefully, you'll enjoy being entertained by it as much as I've enjoyed putting these writings together. And thanks for the time you spend in City-Data.com, where it's great to be alive!

Regards,

One Of These Days, I Need To Return To....

Posted 07-10-2023 at 11:34 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

....making some lists for Case's Column.

I'll do that in due course. Yesterday, after picking up my brother from Dallas Love Field Airport, we both stopped in nearby at a place called Heim Barbecue. As many of you know, Texas is a strong barbecue state, and Heim is just another classic example of how great we have it in the Lone Star State. My brother is in town this week to visit with family for his birthday and mine, and it was his recommendation to...

Ryan Seacrest A Modern-Day Dick Clark In More Ways Than One

Posted 07-04-2023 at 05:13 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Just found this out: "Wheel Of Fortune" is replacing the retiring Pat Sajak with none other than..............Ryan Seacrest. That's right, y'all.

I never was a big fan of Sajak, but let's face it, he ended up successful and had a long run with the venerable game show, which debuted in the mid-1970s with former country singer Chuck Woolery. I actually believe that Chuck was a better host and fit the show perfectly during his run, but unfortunately, talk...

Drivers Have To Have A Clear-Cut Objective To Deal With Traffic

Posted 07-03-2023 at 03:25 PM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

Drivers everywhere you go are capable of one of two things. They're either friendly or courteous to the commuting public, or they're choosing their own selfish desires, thinking they own the road and that everyone else can eat dust.

Now, sports fans, there is never a good time for driver trouble to ever happen, regardless of what you may be doing at the time. So, one day, when I was browsing through some other forums right here on City-Data, I happened to spot...

Will The Real U.S. President Please Stand Up?

Posted 07-03-2023 at 11:02 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

America has been going through a nightmare worse than any bad dream. If Joe Biden* keeps declining because of an onslaught of dementia, then he'd never make it on Concentration. Or, as Sesame Street once did, "The Remembering Game."

The problem we have now is, we have President by proxy. The guy who is supposed to be the lead guy is not making the final decisions like the lead guy is supposed to. He's getting his cues from a hidden source. So, that...

Astros vs. Rangers: The Silver Boot 2023 And Keeping Fingers Crossed

Posted 07-03-2023 at 10:14 AM by case44 (Welcome To Case's Column)

The Houston Astros have two titles to defend. You already know what one of them is, but you might not know about the other.

Whenever the Astros play against the Texas Rangers, it's the battle of Texas. State pride abounds. We have a trophy called The Silver Boot, and that is given to the team who wins a season series between the two teams. Houston has had its ups and downs this year, and I allege that some of the Astros' mojo from last year and years past isn't...
