Fall

Posted 08-14-2008 at 07:42 AM by arguy1973

Seasons change and so did I, need not wonder why..lyrics from an old song. My moods change with the seasons as well I think. It wont be too long before the farmers are back in the field, harvest season is about a week or so away here.
Maybe I over romanticize the changing of seasons. I always look forward to the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Especially look forward to the end of summer and the start of fall weather. Highs in the 70s with the wind blowing, school buses starting to make their rounds, basketball season. The county fair usually kicks off the fall season for me.
I remember picking pears and apples to sale to have some extra money to take to the fair. 2.50 a bushel. Rides werent that expensive then as they are now. Of all the seasons, I really dislike winter. The cold and the dreary short days, where the sun never sticks its head out even to say hi. I guess having a season you dont like makes the ones that are good even more enjoyable. Ive found the same is true in life.
I guess another reason for my love of fall is sports. Basketball starts, as well as football. Those night were you have to have a jacket on and have some hot coffee or cocoa. Those are the best.

I agree with you arguy. I believe that scents also play an important part of the change of seasons. The start of Spring is a fresh smelling smell, along with the flowering of flowers and their smells is the smell of the earth herself. It is like a renewal or sorts. Then Fall, the air is a bit more crisp and if you walk into the woods, you can smell the leaves. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the air, but there is a difference in the smell and it is not just the fragrance of the flowers.

That's a lovely thought aiangel, about the different welcoming smells of each season. Good blog arguy, I love fall. It's my favorite. The colors are so warm. Just the thought of the colors is a cozy feeling. Spring is my next favorite. Then winter (we have a long one here) and then summer. Hooray for fall!

Oh, arguy, I am so jealous. Floridians do not get seasons. Our colors consist of shades of green and brown.
