- Guest Room Materials and Furnishings
Surfaces of all walls, floors, ceilings, doors and windows shall be smooth, easily cleanable and free of cracks, splinters, sharp points or corners, splinters, protruding nails and loose paint which could contain lead or other poisonous materials. All equipment, materials and furnishings shall be sturdy and safely constructed, easy to clean, free of splinters, protruding nails, loose rusty parts and paint which contain lead or other poisonous materials. All floors shall be free of cracks, sliding rugs, telephone jacks and electrical outlets. All carpets shall be kept in good repair and carpeted areas shall be vacuumed and shampooed as often as needed to keep them clean.
- Guest Room Services
Daily maid service will be offered to all occupied or rented rooms. Each room will be outfitted with clean sheets and pillow cases bath linens before being occupied by new guests. All blankets and bedspreads will be clean and will be laundered or cleaned as often as necessary to keep them clean. All furnishings shall be in good condition and cleaned as needed.
- Insect & Rodent Control
All outer openings shall be protected against the entrance of flies, insects, rodents and other pests by outward opening and self-closing door, closed windows, screens or other effective means. Refuse shall be inaccessible to flies, insects, rodents and other pests. Exterior premises shall be well drained and maintained free of pest harborages and breeding sites.
- Restroom Fixture Installation, Maintenance & Servicing
All toilet fixtures shall be installed and maintained IAW City Plumbing Code. Handicap access toilet facilities must be installed and maintained in public areas. Public restrooms shall be cleaned and sanitized daily or more often if necessary. Guest restroom fixtures shall be maintained in good condition and all fixtures shall be cleaned and sanitized before being occupied by new guests. Handwashing lavatories shall be provided with hot and cold water under pressure, tempered by means of a mixing valve or combination faucet. There shall be at least one handwashing lavatory in each restroom or immediately adjacent to each restroom. Each room shall be outfitted with cleaned and sanitized glassware, ice receptacles and any other reusable articles before being occupied by new guests. Used disposable articles will be replaced with new individual-use disposable articles before any room is occupied by new guests.

City of Fort Worth Code Compliance Consumer Health Division 818 Missouri Ave 817-392-7255 A joint Code inspection with Consumer Health (CH) and Building Standards Division (BSD) of the Astro Inn, 3518 S. IH-35 was conducted on October 20, 2009. **All rooms posted with closure notices (large yellow placards) are to remain unoccupied until they are released by Consumer Health. A fee of $125 is required for the re-inspection and will need to be paid before the inspection. **Any room that is to be re-opened by Consumer Health will need to be up to State Minimum Standards and all the violations listed below will need to be corrected. **Please call 817-392-7255 to pay the re-inspection fee and to schedule a re-inspection once these violations are corrected.
