    Corrective action: Required water level for Cyanuric Acid is <100 ppm outside. Water quality requirements in pools and spas shall meet standards detailed in figure 25 TAC, Section 265.204(a) of TDH Standards for Swimming Pools and Spas. Pool must be drained and refilled with fresh water to lower the amount of cyanuric acid that is in pool. Required water level for Chlorine-Free Available (pool) is 1.0 - 8.0 ppm. Water quality requirements in pools and spas shall meet standards detailed in figure 25 TAC, Section 265.204(a) of TDH Standards for Swimming Pools and Spas. When open, water quality tests for disinfectant level and pH at Class C & D pools and spas at Class C facilities shall be conducted at least once per day or more often if necessary to assure proper disinfectant and pH levels. If an automatic control system for disinfectant and pH is in place, disinfectant and pH levels must be measured at least once each day.

Safety features and equipment shall be designed, constructed, installed and maintained to comply with all applicable provisions of City of Fort Worth Ordinances and the State Standard.
    Pools/spas are not provided with properly designed or adequate handholds or railings. Ladder hand railing is loose. Properly designed "NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY" sign is not provided. Required telephone(s) capable of immediately summoning emergency service are not provided.
    Corrective action: Pools/spas shall be provided with handholds such as coping, rope, railing, ledge or deck along top edge of pool which provides slip-resistant surfaces. Pools/spas shall be provided with ladders, stairs or seat ledges that comply with handhold requirements and state standards. At pools where no lifeguard is provided, a securely mounted sign which is readily visible to swimmers with the warning words "NO LIFEGUARD ON DUTY" with letters at least four inches high shall be placed in plain view. The sign will also state in letters at least two inches high "CHILDREN SHOULD NOT USE POOL WITHOUT ADULT SUPERVISION". A telephone or other electronic means capable of immediately summoning emergency service shall be readily accessible within 200 feet unimpeded distance (an unlocked door or gate shall not be considered an impediment) of the pool or spa water. The telephone must be located outside of the pool/spa yard enclosure unless the gates and doors are never locked in any manner, the fence is less than 52 inches tall or if it is a Class A or B pool. If the telephone is located outside of the pool/spa yard enclosure each entry gate/door that may be locked shall have a sign on the exterior of the gate/door or immediately adjacent to the gate/door a sign stating the location of the emergency telephone in 1" letters with the statement "In Case of Emergency, Call 911".
  • Disinfectant Equipment and Chemical Feeders
    TSSP&S 265.197 (Eff Oct 1, 1999) - Disinfectant Equipment and Chemical Feeders, pages 48 - 49; TDSPSPC 337.92 (Eff Jun 13, 1965). Disinfectant equipment and chemical feeders shall be designed, constructed, installed, maintained and operated to comply with all applicable provisions of City of Fort Worth Ordinances and the State Standard.
    Disinfectant feed systems are not installed, maintained and operated properly.
    Corrective action: Disinfectant feed systems shall be installed, maintained and operated according to the manufacturer's specifications and shall have capacity to maintain up to 5 ppm chlorine or approved equivalent for outdoor pools and up to 3 ppm chlorine or approved equivalent for indoor pools under all conditions of intended use.

    TSSP&S 265.200 (Eff Oct 1, 1999) - Pool Yard Enclosures, pages 60 - 62 and FW Ordinance #12156-Sec 16.459-462 (Sep 12, 1995). Pool yard enclosures shall be designed, constructed, installed and maintained to comply with all applicable provisions of City of Fort Worth Ordinances and the State Standard.
    Adequate enclosure is not provided.
    Corrective action: The enclosure for all pools and spas (other than new Class A & B pools) which may include a fence, portion of a building, wall or other durable enclosure not associated with private premises shall have a minimum effective perpendicular height of four (4) feet measured from the deck surface on the outside of the fence, shall not be readily climbable with horizontal members less than 45 inches between their tops or have vertical members more than four (4) inches apart or a space below the fence greater than 4" inches. If the horizontal members are less than 45 inches apart, the vertical members shall be spaced no more than 1 " apart. Class C pools with chain link shall have until January 7, 2007 to comply with the city ordinance. Planters or other climbable structures shall not be within 36 inches of the outside fence. Small section of fence has area of 5 pickets that horizontals are less than 36 inches. This must be repaired within 14 days.

    Corrective action: Before the facility named in this report can reopen for swimming pool/spa operations to the public, the owner/operator must take immediate corrective action to correct identified hazards and request a re-inspection by a Code Compliance Consumer Health Specialist. A fee of $125.00 will be required before any re-inspection may be conducted. Payment shall be made at 818Missouri Avenue, Room 154, Fort Worth, TX 76104 or by phone at 817-392-7255. Each re-inspection will require the fee be paid prior to the Consumer Health Specialists return. The closed pool/spa must meet minimum standards before it can be re-opened.
  • Pool & Spa Operation and Maintenance

    Corrective action: Each pool/spa shall have at least two return inlets which shall not present a hazard to users. Inlets shall not project more than one inch beyond the wall surface and, if installed on the bottom of pools/spas, shall be flush.
