Is there any chance the blog posting character limit could be raised here? I ask because on several occasions, my latest blog entry being one such case, I have had to split posts in two. Having to split posts is a real inconvenience.

city-data does not have a whole lot of blog posting going on, relative to all the other activity going on at city-data.com, so it would seem that increasing the character limit or even doubling it won't have any appreciable impact on server load.

Granted that an increased character limit might motivate would be bloggers to start new blogs here or existing bloggers to write more but such would accrue to city-data's benefit in better search engine rank for the site as a whole I think. Not to mention that it is better I think to set a restriction in place to handle overwhelming participation than having restrictions in place that hinder or discourage participation such that blogging never becomes all it can be here.

A devoted blogger here trying to find more space to write ...

I wouldnt support raising the character limit because most people dont want to read insanely long blogs.

Isn't that something that would best be left up to the readers of any blog? I mean as to deciding whether they want to read long blogs or not?

If the character limit is restricted to what it is because the owners of city-data don't think anyone would read longer blogs that's like the government restricting people's freedom to buy hamburgers because it is deemed that greasy, fast food is not something people might be interested in consuming .

Some people like to consume longer blogs (if they have something worth reading) just like some people like...well...greasy fast food.

Thanks Administrator (whoever you are)! Much appreciated. I am sure my readers will also appreciate it too in that they won't have to try and piece my posts together anymore LOL.

That's great! I'll go back to blogging now.
