It makes sense to have an education lottery but making sense is the easy part and convincing people is another thing.
Keep saying that to yourself. The truth is, Davis refused to pander to these black "groups" who live in the past. They still think the White man is out to get them and won't approve a candidate who *gasp* doesn't use race to get elected. I'm Hispanic and I think all these Black groups in the South are really what's keeping the Black people down.

Why blacks in the south, most blacks in the north are the racist(black panther party). We had legitamate issue during the 60's. I dont get, many blacks help elect a white guy and "we think the white man is out to get us".I dont think a white man is out to get us, i'm an American thats all I care about.

Davis lost because he tried to pander to a segment of the population that was never going to vote for him. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, because lets be honest, even if he would have gotten the black vote, he was still going to need white voters in November.

I just think he voted too conservative and that did him in. This is hypocritical, but I want a person that calls himself a Democrat to act like one. He was going too far past moderate.

Also, most African American's could care less about these so called, "black organizations." I have absolute respect for the NAACP as an organization, but it's not what it was in it's heyday.

On one hand, I totally understand that in order to be helped, you have to help yourself. However, on the other hand, Alabama, is still very much a good ole boy state and African Americans really don't get the high paying jobs outside of Huntsville and Birmingham. Some people might not want to admit it, but it is what it is.

I didn't know that I was. Thank you for deciphering my intent, you know what's going on in my head better than I do apparently.

But, what other cities in the state have high paying jobs?

I agree.Looking at the Median income of Huntsville,Birmingham,Montgomery, and Mobile there are barely any outliers, meaning they are pretty much in the same category. There are high paying Jobs in both Montgomery and Mobile.

Austal will be hiring 500 this summer ,Airbus is hiring 200 as of right now,TK has hired it’s 1,000th and will be hiring another 1,000 soon. The Army Corps of Engineers is always hiring, ST Aerospace Mobile will be hiring around 400 I believe, and there are other private engineer firms such as Hargrove. The Port of Mobile (though blue collar) but high paying will be filling around 500 positions soon.

Though there were other cities in Alabama that had a higher unemployment rate than Birmingham, the city of Birmingham still lead the sate in job loss if im not mistaken.

The city of Birmingham is losing jobs to surrounding counties and other cities due to the high taxes in Jefferson county. One high paying job with a billion dollar pay roll (avg 75 K a year)will be relocating from Birmingham to Montgomery by the end of the summer. Please note that I am not bashing just stating a fact, and I have love for all of the big four.
