I seem to be spending an awful lot of nights in Alaska staying up watching the night skies anyway, real excited about the Lunar Eclipse.

NASA claims this event last took place in 1554. I'd like to know how they know. Heck, I don't even think John McCain was born yet.

The last time a total Lunar eclipse happened on the solstice was 1638, 2 weeks before John McCain's 3rd birthday

The high clouds from the leading edge of the system currently slamming Warpt out on the coast are now starting to move in over SouthCentral. The forecast is for snow developing later tonight. Whether it will clear off by Monday night is the $64k question. I'm not very optimistic at this point.

It is pretty clear here in Barrow today. The sky looked really cool this morning. I hope it holds out.
