My wife and I are finally making solid plans to move to Soldotna in May. I got a job in North Dakota working for Halliburton on a rotational basis, which gives us the flexibility to move wherever we want. I'll still be trying to get a job up there in AK, but for now I feel blessed beyond measure to be moving forward with settling down on the peninsula. I have to thank Rance for pointing me toward ND for work. I got my job six months ago; right before all the news stories about jobs here. There's still a ton of jobs, but hr departments are so backed up it is taking months for people to get job offers. We'll be visiting the in-laws in about eight weeks up in soldotna. I'm super excited to get up there, even if just for a week for now. I hope all is well for everyone!

Glad to hear the news. It will be awhile before AK has much to offer with oilfield work I'm afraid. You should be able to get a few years out of ND and may even be able to transfer to AK with Halliburton. Are you doing cementing or wireline work? Working a rotational in ND is really no different than working a rotational on the slope.
Send me a DM when you get a chance to make it to Soldotna area. If I'm around we can meet up for a beer or something.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone! I'm fracking down here in ND. It's a good job and we get lots of hours. Plus Halliburton offers very extensive training; I showed up with absolutely no experience and now I have a class A cdl with all endorsements and have an ever-growing knowledge of oilfield operations. I've barely scratched the surface, bit I'm learning every day. I'm hoping to get a transfer within Halliburton to cement or wireline someday down the road. if I'm ever to be a company man, I'll need to know how to do everything. The more I learn about it, the more I think that might be a good goal for me. anyway, I digress. I'm super excited to move. And Rance, I'll let you know when I get there.

Aha! A freaking frac'er! Well there will be years of that no doubt and with that experience you could work PA, VA, OH, NY, TX, AR and a few other states with a handfull of other companies. Just be safe dude. As you know your working with pressure, and hardlines do ugly things when they come loose under pressure. Not to mention harsh chemicals.
