I'm surprised you don't use a polarizing filter, Nephler. Your skies are always so deep, sometimes almost purple. It's very striking. Maybe you just pick the right days to go out. I do think you're trying to convince everyone to move up there, though. I think it's working, at least for me.

They're heading downriver to Kasigluk to take samples. They're dropping the lowboy off on the river and are going to plow upriver to Akiachak this afternoon to haul fuel.

Got out for a bit to the Willow Winter Carnival for the fireworks. I wanted to try my hand at that.......shot off automatic for the first time, but really just blindly playing with the dials and then I caught some locals leaving ........

Those are some of the best fireworks shots I've ever seen, you can almost feel the concussions!

Sunset behind Redoubt and Illiamna Volcano's last Monday

Looking north toward XTO's Platform A, taken from Platform C. 20 years ago these belonged to Shell, thus the yellow paint scheme.

Looking due west at the Steelhead Platform, with another behind it, and Spur Volcano as a backdrop.

A shot of the old standard derrick. I used to work up there in the orange section when we were drilling. This huge old derrick has 2 monkey boards and can hold 4 seperate strings of pipe.

A shot of one of the legs as the ice get's mashed during an outgoing tide. Makes for constant shaking like an earthquake.

Lot's of ice in the inlet

Some cargo ship just left Anchorage headed down the inlet, with the now closed Agrium Plant and north Kenai in the background.

Looking up the inlet toward Anchorage, headed for the beach yesterday

Safely onshore in north Kenai. Cramped ride with 5 passengers in that tiny chopper.
